NEW BIOLOGY BLOCK
THE OFFICIAL OPENING ARRANGEMENTS FOR MONDAY t The now biology building at Auckland University ?, which cost about £37,000, will bo officially opened at three o'clock on Monday afternoon by the Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Eraser. Among the speakers will bo the president of the college, Mr. W. H. Cocker, the chairman of the professorial board, Professor \Y. A. Sewell, tlie dean of the science faculty, Professor H. G. Forder, and the Mayor of Auckland, Sir Ernest Davis. This addition to the universitv buildings will meet a need that has existed for some time, especially in the direction of relieving congestion in the old science block at the corner of Symonds and Alfred Streets. The disposition of the new quarters in the college grounds, the generous window and floor space, are all in keeping with modern architectural practice. All the preparation rooms, laboratories and lecture theatres have the maximum provision for natural light, several of them from two and sometimes three sides. From the viewpoint of the passer-by, the new building matches well the general line of the others.
