PACIFIC SETTLEMENT
INTERNATIONAL DISPUTES POWERS AND THE ACT British Wireless LONDON, Feb. 17 In the absence of denunciation the next period of five years for which the General Act for the Pacific Settlement of International Disputes runs will begin on August 16. In a letter to the Secretary-General of the League of Nations, M. Joseph Avenol, Britain intimated that she will continue after that date to participate in the Act subject to the reservation that, as from that date, the participation of Britain will not apply should slio unfortunately find herself involved in hostilities over disputes arising out of events occurring during war. This reservation applies also to the procedure of .conciliation. A message from Geneva states that France, New Zealand and India have advised the League in similar terms.
