HAWKE'S BAY WOOL

OFFERING AT NAPIER THIRD SALE OF SEASON CLIP AFFECTED BY WEATHER [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] NAPIER, Sunday The third offering of Hawke's Bay and Poverty Bay wools for the season will take place in Napier to-morrow, when a total of 27,000 bales, representing a wide range of clips, will bo submitted. Very few super lines are on offer and the clip in general is showing the effect of the inclement seasonal conditions. This, however, is not peculiar to Hawke's Bay, as practically all wool throughout the Dominion has suffered similarly.

A review of wool in the stores reveals that it is not quite as good as that at the January showing, which, after that offered at the December sale, was quite disappointing. The wool is off-colour, and in many lines seed is prevalent. There are, however, a number of bright wools, showing good style, which contrast sharply with the dingy, seedy lots, fairly heavy in condition. The very fine wools on offer include entries showing Corriedale cross. Good Southdown wool is confined to a few lines, and there is little balfbred.

The ryegrass market is fairly firm, but seed showing good germination is still very difficult to find. Perennial showing 80 per cent or better germination is quoted at 3s 6d to 4s and Italian at 2s (5d to 2s 9d, both quotations being more or less nominal. Only ono or two early lots of white clover have yet been threshed, but therii are prospects of some fair-sized parcels offering next month. The quotation is 9d to Is per lb., according to- quality. Cowgrass is still dead, with old season's quoted at 4d to Gd. Wheat is now coming on to the market very freely and quality continues to be good Oats is also much moro plentiful, but there isi no demand. Good, heavy Gartons. are quoted at 2s 6d with BS at 2s 4d and Algerians up to 2s lOd. The potato market is quiet again, although the nominal quotation has moved up to £f>
