ANNUAL COMPETITION AUCKLAND TEAMS DEFEATED SUCCESS OF WAIKATO PLAYERS [from OCR own correspondent] HAMILTON, Sunday The annual bowling match for the Hardley Shield between representatives of the Auckland and South Auckland centres was played on the Hamilton Club's greens yesterday, both centres bi'ing represented by 10 rinks. South Auckland retained the shield by winning 14 games to six and by securing 427 points to 358. The visitors - were welcomed by the president of the South Auckland .Centre, Mr. W. W. Maingay, of Te Aroha, and Mr. W. J. Truscott, president of the Auckland Centre, replied.

As a result of a long spell of dry weather the greens are likely to be very keen. The weather conditions promise to be good for the opening games. Last yea' the title was won by HardieNeil and Maxwell Walker, of the Auckland Club, who will asrain be competing. Robertson and Livingstone, of Onehunsra, are also entrants. Three section rounds will be played each day, with the final probably on Friday afternoon CARLTON ANNIVERSARY EVENT The final of the Carlton Bowling Club's Anniversary Day tournament resulted in a win for Harinan, Shields, Inglis, H. Kent, who defeated Stead, McNaughton. Honley and Lett by 20 points to 11, REMUERA PAIRS TOURNEY The final of the Remucra Bowling Club'B progressive pairs tournament resulted in a win for Tudhopeand Shortt, who beat Keys and Norton by 20 points to 8.
