VALUABLE TIKI
BOY'S FIND AT PLAY [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Friday A Maori tiki, which is believed to have a high value, was accidentally found by a boy, Joseph Skinner, aged 12, while playing at the southern extremity of Titahi Bay. The boy and companions were playing hide-and-seek. Digging idly about the ground where ho was sitting the boy found the tiki. £ It is about sin. long and 3in. broad. It was lying among some bones and what appeared to be ashes. When cleaned it was discovered to be of greenstone and it is not badly worn. Dr. W. R. B. Olliver, director of the Dominion Museum, said that it was definitely of pre-European age.
