KINDNESS LONG AGO
Mr. Walter Todd, of Laze 11 by Hall, near Northallerton, lias been given an easy chair in commemoration of his 60 years as a Methodist local preacher. At 84 Mr. Todd may .boast that he has preached 4000 sermons, and that ho t lias never wearied of well-doing out of one century into another. He remembers a kindness shown to him many years ago. He had been preaching in a Yorkshire village when the weather made it impossible to go home, and ho was persuaded to stay the night with two Methodists, a man and his wife, but it was not till the next morning that ho discovered that the good folk had sat up all night so that 110 might havo the bed.
