THROUGH LIBERIA

TRAVEL AND ADVENTURE A journey through Liberia, in Africa, undertaken in a moment of caprice after a glass or two of champagne, and its attendant adventures and experiences, are brightly described by, Miss Barbara Greene in her book "Land Benighted." Accompanied by her cousin, Graham Greene, tho writer started off in a little cargo boat appropriately called "The David Livingstone," for Africa, entering Liberia from tho north via Freetown. Their adventures included a long, monotonous march through difficult and unmapped country, trouble with natives, acute discomforts and, at times, scarcity of food and water. Not the least of the dangers confronting the two travellers was that of strange and loathsome diseases apparently indigenous to the country. Interesting light is thrown on native customs and superstitions in the course of tho story. "Land Benighted," by Barbara. Greene (Geoltrcy Blcs).
