OPEN-AIR CAFES
PROPOSAL FOR SYDNEY, [from our own correspondent! SYDNEY, Feb. 10 The fact that Sydney, with a climate admirably suited for the purpose, has not gone in for open-air cafes, and has not in other ways taken a lesson from the Continent in the art of living at the close of the day's work, has puzzled many people, arid especially those who have travelled abroad. The fact also that it has extraordinarily few roof gardens to take advantage of the magnificent setting of Sydney Harbour has probably made visitors wonder. A proposal, to. establish an open-air cafe in Hyde Park, in the heart of tho city, and the rendezvous of thousands of office and other employees in the lunch hour, suggests at least an awakening to a most urgent need.
