DISTRICT NURSING COSTS [by TEIjEQIIArH OWN CORRESPONDENT] TAURANGA, Friday Advice that the whole position of district health nurses had been recently reviewed was received from the Health Department at a meeting of the Tauranga Hospital Board. It had been found that tho responsibility accepted toward the cost of nurses varied considerably among different boards. Where it had been necessary for the department to establish a district health nurse and where it accepted full responsibility for her salary, uniform allowance, accommodation, transport and medical stores, it was the desire of the department to recover from the board in whose district she worked. £IOO a year. As the Tauranga board regarded the rental value of the rooms supplied to Uie recently-appointed district nurse at Te Puke as 12s 6d a week, it was asked to agree to a contribution of £67 10s a year. It was decided to ask the department if the same proposal would apply to the district health nurse at Tauranga and also to have the rental of the rooms at Te Puke fixed at £1 a week.
A motion was passed disapproving of any change in the present ambulance servico which, it was considered, was giving everj' satisfaction.
