PRIEST TRANSFERRED
FATHER COILUMB, OF HUNTLY ["from our own correspondent] HUNTLY. Friday Notification of his transfer to Dunedin has been received by Father F. Columb, who has been assistant parish priest at Hunuly for the past three years. A valedictory social and dance was tendered to liira this week by the parishioners of St. Anthony's Church. During the evening eulogistic speeches wero made by the Mayor, Mr. W. C. E. George, on behalf of the citizens of Huntly; Mr. T. Healev, St. Anthony's Tennis Club; Mr. R. Dowd, for Father Courtney, priest in charge of the Huntly parish; and Mr. C. S. Caddie, on behalf of the Waikato Schools' Association. A presentation of a sum of money to Father Columb was made by Mr. E. J. Farrell, the oldest parishioner. It is expected that Father Quinn, of Auckland, and Father McCarthy, of Dunedin, will be in charge of the parish until Father Courtney's return from hospital.
