The demand for dairy cattle was less keen at the Westfield weekly stock sale yesterday and only the better quality lines found competition lively. The. yarding of that class of stock was smaller than last week. Top prices were, however, a few shillings higher than late rates and recently-calved cows and forward springers realised up to £lO 10s. Heifers of good sorts and close to profit sold at prices ranging to £9 ss. The values of the backward lines were lower in average than last week. In the storo section there was also a quieter tone in most lines. Young heifers and potter bulls sold readily at firm rates, bulls realising up to £9 ss. Tho quotations were as follows: —

The range of prices was erratic and the bidding at times very slow, but in tho main a good clearance was effected. Good to first-class two-tooth made from 26s 6d to 31s; good to first-class four-tooth, 2Gs to 29s 6d; medium quality sixtooth, 26s 3d; first-class four-year, 20s to 27sj first-class five-year. 17s 6d to 20s. PUKEKOHE MARKET [from our own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Thursday A smaller yarding of dairy cattle than is usual came forward at the weekly stock sale at Pukekohe conducted by Alfred Buckland and Sons, Limited. Tho demand in the dairy section was not quito so keen as recently, but all quality cows and heifers realised late rates. The entry of fat and boner cattle was larger than usual. Competition was good in this section and values were on a par with late rates. An average yarding of all classes of pigs was received. Competition for well-finished light and medium baconers and heavy porkers was keen and prices were steady for these. Values for heavy baconers and lipht and unfinished porkers was slightly lower in sympathy with the reduced schedules now operating. Good stores sold readily, but weaners were in very poor request. RAM VALUES AT TE KUITI Abraham and Williams, Limited reports that the advertised entry was penned and was submitted to a good bench of buyers at the Te Kuiti ram fair. Competition for best class Southdown and Romney rams was keen and prices realised were on a par with top prices at other fairs this season. Tail end sheep also sold well, the market bei.ni? firm right to the end of the sale. The top price for Sonthdowns was made by an excellent line from Mr. T. G. Mason, which made up to 10 guineas. Stud Romney rams from Mr. A. R. Buchanan made 15gns to 20gns. Best Southdowns ranged from 7gns to lOgns; good sheep, ogns to Bgns; small sorts, 3gns to Bgns. Best nock Romneys made Bgns to lOVSgns. the top price being for very good class sheep from Mr. N. W. Pearce. Medium Romney rams sold from 6gns to Ssrns while tail end sorts realised 3gns to s%gns.

STORE SHEEP AT FRANKTON G. W. Vercoe and Company, Limited, reports having held the weekly store sheep sale nt Frankton, when a large entry came forward. Good quality ewes attracted keen competition from a large bench of buyers and prices improved, while aged and inferior sorts sold at late rates. Lambs sold steadily at rates about equal to those of last week, and a large entry of rams, the majority consisting of aged sheep, sold well. RAMS MAKE TO 10* GUINEAS The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, held the annual Morrinsvillo ram fair, when an entry of upward of 750 rams, comprising mostly of Sonthdowns, was submitted. The entry included annual drafts from well-known local and southern breeders and met a good reception from a representative attendance of buyers. Southdown rams that were well grown and in good condition were well sought after and sold readily up to last year's prices, while small and inferior rams sold at rates showins an advance on those received in previous years. The top price in Southdowns was secured by Mr. T. Luptan, of Waverley, for a pen of well-grown one-shear rams purchased by Mr. Angus Gibbons, of Morrinsville, at lO'/gns. Mr. W. 1. VALUES FOR MARKED CALVES {from ouh own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Thursday The annual sale of marked calves at Pukekohe was organised by the New Zealand Herd-Testing Association and conducted by Alfred Bnckland and Sons. Limited, and the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, in conjunction. The condition of the offering was not quite up to the standard of previous years, some of the lots being very small, this no doubt being duo to tho season. Although bidding was not keen and values wore considerably lower than last year, most of tho vendors were prepared to meet tho market, and practically a total clearanco was effected. Top price of £5 5s was secured by Mr. H. J. Androws, Onewhero, and other lots from the same vendor realised from ,C 3 to £4 2s Gd. Other sales were:—On account of Mr. H. Swinliourn.
