INCREASE IN DIVIDEND 2 PER CENT BONUS ADDED [BY TELEGRAPH —PftESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Thursday The directors of Huddart-Parker, Limited, shipowners, Melbourne, announce that, subject to audit, final dividends of 3 per cent on preference shares and 6 per cent on ordinary shares will be paid for the half-year ended December 31. In addition, a bonus of 2 per cent will bo paid on ordinary sliares.

With the interim payments made in September the preference dividend for the year will be unchanged at 6 per cent and the ordinary dividend will be increased from 11 per cent to 12 per cent, plus the bonus of 2 per cent. In 1936 and 1935 the ordinary dividend was 7£ and 7 per cent, respectively. COMMONWEALTH FINANCES j SEVEN MONTHS' DEFICIT Expenditure by the Commonwealth of Australia for the seven months ended January 31 was £3,074,000 greater than revenue, according to a return issued by the Treasury. This is £1,761,000 more than the deficit for seven months of 1937-38. During Jamiary the deficit increased by £1,017,000. Revenue for the seven months was £48,365,000, and expenditure £51,439,000. Customs revenuo amounted to £18,573,000 out of a budget estimate for the full year of £31,250,000. This is regarded as satisfactory.
