ROADS IN THE NORTH REPRESENTATIONS TO MINISTER [BY TELEGRAPH—OWN COItI!ESPONDEXT] I)A RG A VILLE, Wednesday When the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. I?. Semple, passes through Dargaville on his return to Auckland from the North on February 25, he will be asked for a free grant to corer the cost of repairing the Trounson Kauri Park Road. A decision to seek this grant was made at a meeting of the Hobson County Council, members being of opinion that the previous offer of £3OO on a pound for pound basis was not acceptable, as practically no rates were received by the council from this area and because most of the damage to the road was caused bv tourist traffic.

It was also decided to support the effort of the Hokianga and Bay of Islands County Councils to have the route from Dargaville through the Waipoua forest to Kaikohe declared a State highway so that there would be a State highway running up both sides of the island. This question also will be placed before Mr. Semple.
