HITLER FOR NOBEL PRIZE "GLOWING LOVE OF PEACE" (Received January 31, 1.30 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 30 The correspondent of the Times at Stockholm reveals that the suggestion of Herr Hitler for the Nobel peace prize was a political prank on the part of Dr. Brandt, who is an inspector of schools with Communist leanings. He facetiously suggested that the avoidance of war, last September was due to Herr Hitler's "glowing love of peace, best documented in 'Mein Kampf,' the mostwidespread piece of literature next to the Bible."
"If warmongers do not interfere," said Dr. Brandt, "Herr Hitler ere long will pacify Europe and perhaps the world. Mr. Chamberlain might be awarded a small portion of the prize for his extraordinary consideration and understanding of Herr Hitler's peace endeavours."
