SKID INTO MANGROVES
UNUSUAL MISHAP TO CAR [by TELF.GRAFH —OWN correspondent] WHANGAREI. Monday The Wliangarei-Onerahi Koad, which, owing to the loose metal, was responsible for three accidents iii as many days a fortnight ago, was the scene of three more or less minor mishaps last night. On account of the slippery naturo of the road surface due to the rains early in the evening a large sedan car skidded on the wet surface and, going over the bank, landed in the mangroves of a tidal flat on the roadside. Fortunately the tide was out at the time and except for a shaking none of the occupants was hurt.
Two other cars skidded into the muddy watertables and assistance had to be obtained to bring them back again to the metal section of the road.
