GUESTS ENTERTAINED

MAYOR AND MAYORESS FUNCTION AT KOH! M ARAM A LARGE NUMBER ATTEND Many guests attended the enjoyable At Home held by the Mayor and Mayoress, Sir Ernest and Lady Davis, at Longmore, Kohimarama, last evening. The wet weather prevented them from walking in the garden and enjoying its many beauties, but the rain did not spoil the panoramic view of the harbour from the windows of the reception rooms and from the verandah, or hide glimpses of flower gardens, spreading lawn and lovely old trees. On arrival the guests were received by Sir Ernest and Lady Davis in the hall, which looked most attractive with large bowls of blue agapanthus, white lilies and foliage. Lady Davis was wearing a graceful frock of beige georgette and lace. Assisting the Mayor and Mayoress in the reception of their guests were their son and daughter, Mr. Desmond Davis and Mrs. Murdoch Smith, the latter wearing a black frock, black picture hat banded with white, and silver fox cape, and Miss Irma Mitchell, who was in a black frock with bolero blouse of beige crepe de chine. A variety of drinks and savouries were served in the dining room and lounge, which had been charmingly arranged with summer flowers, and also on the verandah. Some ol the Guests The invited guests included the Hon. Eliot 11.
