Headed by the Te Arolia Pipe Band, t.he children paraded down the main street to the Herries Memorial Park, where some 500 children gathered. There was a largo crowd of spectators. The judging resulted as follows: -Group (Dutch windmill): D. Flowerday. N. Cross and J. Lloyd. Decorated pram: Joan Land, 1; Joan Ritchie, 2; Coleen Petersen, 3. Decorated cycle: Joan Darby, 1; Doreen Rnckham, 2; Audrey Curtis, 3. Poster costume: Nola Slight, 1; Barbara Land, 2. Frog club special: Pat Fryer. Carnival specials: Margaret Ritchie, Margaret Ericson. Most original: Jack Price, I; Kevin Curran', 2; M. Colson, 3. Window spotting competition: Kevin Curran, 1; Donald Thomas, 2. Trolley derby: S, and L. Willowes, 1; 11. and M. Gray, 2. Best boy: A If. Land, 1; Terry Darby, 2; J. Prince, 3. Best girl: June Prince, 1; Olwyn Ericson, 2. Over 00 entries were received for the baby show, which created wide interest. Awards wore as follows: —Under nine months: Colleen Hunger, 1; Colin Campbell, ,2; Mary Magill, 3.
