T" 7 NEW APPOINTMENTS British Wireless LONDON, Dec. 28 Military appointments approved by the King include thq following: Colonel F. K. Simmons from General Staff officer, first grade, British forces in Palestine and Transjordan, temporary, to be commander of the Shanghai area of British troops in China with the temporary rank of brigadier. He is to replace Colonel A. F. de Telfer Smollett, who is being appointed LieutenantGovernor of Guernsey, to take effect on June 5, 1939. Lieutenant - Colonel J. T. Leslie, Royal Berkshiro Regiment, is to be commander of the Canal Bridge British troops, Egypt, with temporary rank of brigadier in place of Colonel W. T. Brooks, whoso tenure will expire on October 14, 1939.
