DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIP [by telegraph—press association] WANGANUI, Tuesday The second and third rounds of the New Zealand chess championship were played to-day, several games being adjourned at the call of time. These will he completed as opportunity permits, the mornings being reserved for the purpose. Two rounds were also completed to-day in the premier reserve tourney. Play in the second round of the championship resulted:—Taylor lost to Kelling; ( Scott drew with Rutherford; Heenan lost to McNabb; Fairburn beat Dunlop; Jones beat Cole; Sevgrne v. Erskine, unfinished; Lynch v. Dyer, unfinished. Third Round. —McNabb beat Fairburn; Dyer v. Jones, unfinished; Erskine v. Scott, unfinished; Rutherford v. Heenan, unfinished; Kclling v. Soverne, unfinished; Dunlop drew with Lynch; Cole lost to Taylor. Premier Reserve Tourney.—Second round: Cromarty beat Smith j Beach beat Aislabie; Dobson beat "\\ hillock; Christensen beat Speck; Meads v. Wade, adjourned. Third round: Whitlock beat Speck; Wade beat Aislabie; Meads beat Smith; Beach and Dobson drew; Cromarty v. Christensen, adjourned. 11l an adjourned game from the first round Aislabie drew with Whitlock.
