CYCLIST KILLED NINE-YEAR-OLD BOY ' STRUCK BY MOTOR-CAR [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] HASTINGS, Tuesday A nine-year-old boy, Graham Leslie Wooding, was killed this morning tfhen a motor-car hit his bicycle near I'akipaki, a few miles out of Hastings on the Napier-Wellington main highway. Tho car was driven by Mr. J. S. Wright, a traveller from the United States. The boy died in the Hastings Hospital three hours later. OUT OF CONTROL CAR GOING TO BEACH VEHICLE RUNS INTO BANK THREE WOMEN IN HOSPITAL [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WHAKATANE, Tuesday Three women were injured when a motor-car driven by Miss May Flowers, of Whakatane, became out of control on the Hillcrcst Road, between Whakatane and Ohope Beach, yosterdaj afternoon and. crashed into the side of the bank. Chest injuries wero suffered by Miss Flowers, while Mrs. G. Caisley, a passenger, received a broken nose and facial abrasions. The third occupanc of the car, Mrs. E. Flowers, suffered facial abrasions. They were taken to the Whakatane Hospital, but their condition was not regarded as serious. TWO OARS COLLIDE AUCKLAND YOUTH HURT [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WHANGAKEI, Tuesday Suffering from concussion received in a motor collision, Richard Davies, aged 19, of Clifton Road, Takapuna, was admitted to the Whangarei Hospital this evening. The accident occurred on the main road just south of Whangarei. The car in which Davies was riding came to rest in a ditch. "None of the other occupants of either car was injured, but both cars were damaged. THROWN PROM OYOLE RIDER'S HEAD INJURIES Concussion and head injuries were suffered by William Hicks steelworker, aged 20, of 48 Cook Street, City, when he was thrown from a motor-cycle in France Street, Newton, yesterday afternoon. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance. Last night his condition was reported to be fairly serious.

FALL OVER A BANK BOY TAKEN TO HOSPITAL Through falling over a bank near Shelly Beach baths at about 12.30 p.m. yesterday, Robert Walter Henderson, aged eight, suffered concussion. The boy, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Henderson, of 2 Keppel Street, Archhill, was attended by Dr. J. P. Hastings and later taken to the Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance. His condition last night was notserious. ESCAPE AT CROSSING RACE TRAIN AND LORRY [BT TELEGRAPH —OWN correspondent] PALMER STON NORTH, Tuesday A fortunate escape was experienced by Mr. John Trembath, of Feilding, to-day, when his motor-lorry was struck on the Kimbolton Road level crossing by a race train bound for .Palmerston North. Mr. Trembath was driving up Kimbolton Road and, when near the crossing, saw the train speeding toward him. >le applied his brakes and brought tho lorry to a standstill. The engine of the train passed him, but the carriage immediately behind the engine caught tho left front mudguard of the lorry and swung the vehicle round. The lorry, although damaged, did not capsize, and Mr. Trembath was not hurt. CAR STRIKES LIGHT POST TWO MEN SEVERELY HURT [by telegraph—press association] WELLINGTON, Tuesday The driver of a light car, Mr. Mark Coleman, and Mr. Alfred Gregg were severely injured at 1 a.m. to-day when the car struck a concrete post carrying a light at a safety zone at the railway station. Mr. Gregg is in a serious condition, with a compound fracture of the left arm, a fractured knee cap, a fractured jaw and concussion. Mr. Coleman has lacerations of the scalp, an injury to his right knee and concussion., The car was extensively damaged. 070 LIST AND PILLION RIDER BOTH RECEIVE INJURIES ! Tuesday A motor-cyclist was seriously injured and a pillion rider suffered minor injuries when the machine they were riding got out of control and struck a telephone pole in Colombo Street yesterday. The rider was Mr. Allan Finn, of Runanga. West Coast. He was taken to the Cliristchurch Hospital in an unconscious condition suffering from a double fracture of the left forearm and severe head injuries. His passenger was Mr. Leo Robinson, of Runanga, who recoived injuries to the left leg.
