The excursions to ltangitoto, Motuihi and the many bays on Waiheke Island were exceedingly well patronised, and tho Waitakere Ranges and. the West Coast surf attracted correspondingly large numbers of people in motor-cars and buses. The attendance gave excellent promise for the remaining two days of the Auckland Trotting Club's Summer Meeting. All of these drew good numbers of spectators. Many yachts and launches which had not undertaken Christmas cruises were used for shorter trips, which the conditions made most pleasant. There were not many organised excursions yesterday, the largest being that of the Croatian Benevolent and Cultural Society, which held its annual picnic at Oneroa. The day's event in the Cheltenham beach and sports car nival was a fishing competition.
