if HE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE RECOVERY MADE IN GAS Investment business closed for th§ year on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. A fair volume of trading was done at the single call, a feature beins a recovery in levels for Auckland Gas. In the banking group the two Dominion issues were steady, but Commercials of Australia eased a shade. Insurances "ere unchanged. Auckland Gas were lifted 8d on sale from the previous low level, with more wanted, and the contributing issue moved up in sympathy. Leyland-O'Brien and Grey Valley Coals also improved. Australian industrials again showed an easier trend, although Woolworths (Sydney) changed hands dearer. Best wishes to members for a prosperous New Year were expressed by the chairman of the Exchange, Mr. P. C. Savage, after the call. Business will be resumed on January 10.
