UNEMPLOYED IN CITIES
CHRISTCHURCH SECOND Cliristcliureh has the second largest , list of registered civil unemployed 111 the Dominion, according to advice received by the executive of the Returned Soldiers' Association. It was stated that Auckland headed the list with 1927 men registered as out or v,- ork. •Christchurch, "with about half its population." had 1410, Dunedin 971 , and Wellington-, in spite of its growing population, only B(3M. Surprise was expressed by some members at the high place Christ- • Hunch held in the list, but others stated that it had always been second to Auckland, even throughout the depression. "Wellington is too expensive to live in for the unemployed," said one man, commenting on the capital's place at the foot °f the list.
