STOCKS AND SHARES
L IHE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE AUSTRALIAN SCRIP EASIER A slightly weaker trend was evident in investment values on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Turnover was Jairly well maintained, but levels of both New Zealand and Australian issues tended to weaken. Gilt-edged . securities again were easier. Banks and insurances were steady, with little change in values. West port-Stockton Coals and Northern St-eams both were marked down in dealing.. Among the Australian issues, several market leaders yielded ground. Australian Glass, British Tobacco and Woolworths (Sydney) were all taken cheaper. Support for several issues was withdrawn at the close. New Zealand shares remained dull and depressed. The Exchange will close at 1 p.m. to-day for the Christmas holidays, reopening on January 10.
