"WHY BE SERIOUS"
CHRISTMAS REVUE SEASON The rev no "Why Be Serious," which is to be staged nt His Majesty's Theatre for a brief season by 9. C. Williamson Theatres, beginning on Saturday afternoon and evening next, is described as a swift moving show. There are many beatiiifnl ballets, the latest from .America, and some fine stage settings. The ladies of the company wear tbp latest dress creations. " Why Be Serious" is said to bo quite free from any suggestive or unsavoury sketches or jokes, and it is this that was responsible for the fact that the matinees in Sydney attracted largo numbers of children. Great interest centres in the first appearance hero of Mr. Will Mahoney, the noted comedian. Mr. Mahoney, it is said, obtains his laughs by legitimate methods, and his clever eccentric dancing is an outstanding featuro. He is a firm favourite with New York and London playgoers. Miss Evie Hayes, besides being an American radio star, is also a talented actress. Miss Violet Carlson will make a welcomo reappearance, as she is one of the most vivacious and irresistible comediennes the Williamson management has had in any of their companies for several years. There is a strong supporting company.
