WHAT SCHACHT WAS TOLD SHARING WORLD MARKETS (Received December 20, 6.30 p.m.) British Wireless LONDON, Dec. 10 The opportunity of the visit to London of Herr Hitler's adviser, Dr. Schacht, President of the Reichsbank, was taken to tell him for the information of the competent authorities in Berlin that Britain favoured amicable agreements between industries in the two countries on a sharing of the markets which would enable them both to carry on fair trade at fair prices. Announcing this in the House of Commons to-day the President of-the Board of Trade, Mr. Oliver Stanley, emphasised that Dr. Schacht had not been in London as a representative of the German Government. The Foreign Under-Secretary, Mr. R. A. Butler, in answer to a question, said: "The general question of emigration from Germany was discussed unofficially with Dr. Schacht, but it was not intended or expected that any decisions should be reached during his visit. The external debt of Germany was not mentioned."
