SHEPHERDS' HOUSE BURNED MEN ESCAPE IN NIGHT ATTIRE [by telegraph—own correspondent] GISBORNE, Tuesday A large wooden building Arawhana Station, used as shepher s quarters, was burned to the groun •this morning, the fire starting in a room adjoining the sitting room an spreading quickly throughout ® building. Six employees slept in the building last night and three made an early start for mustering this morn ing, while one other roso at abou 5.30 a.m. and also departed to bis duties. Tlio two remaining occupants were aroused shortly after six o clock 7 the fire and smoke and escaped wi , little more than their night attire. Efforts' to save the personal effects or the absent men were unavailing. The building was insured with lue Southern Union company for -4uu.
