Tho going was comparatively good. Horses galloping on the course proper the right-handed way had the assistance of a strong following breeze; while tlioso on the other track, galloping the opposite way, were impeded by a head wind up the straight. Conditions genfcrally were unpleasant. The best gallop of the morning was that of Whirling over fivo furlongs. Olyinpus (McKenzie) and Beau Bepairp (Anderson) were associated over fivo furlongs run in 1.7 1-5, tho first) half-mile in 53 l-ss. Chief Lap, who left for New Plymouth this evening, worked steadily over a round. Whirling (Gollop) impressed by accounting for Rollicker (McKenzie) at tho end of five furlongs in 1.4. Whirling was in front throughout. Ho ran his first three furlongs in 36 2-5s and tho half-mile was reached in 50 4-ss. Mangukaha did her work in free style and looks to be on the up-grade. Dark Shadow (Thomson), who bears a solid appearance, ran to tho six-fur-long post in 1.18, the initial five furlongs occupying 1.5. Classic (Day) and Syndora (Joues), after running their first three furlongs in 365, completed fivo in 1.6 1-5. Kittle (Hain) and Dan's Delight (Bootsma) were companions over a round in 2.8, the first half-mile taking 52 l-ss. Calorie (Jones) equalled this effort. Tounerre ,(James), who looks improved, was doing better than Fleur d'Or (Smith) to run six furlongs in 1.21, Sir Lysander (Winder) finished clear of Lysander Lad (Brown) over half a mile run in 525. Mon Acre (Long) recorded 545, time which Lornacre (Long) subsequently equalled. On the inside grass, Tosh (Mclnally) rah half a mile in 545. The largest team from Trentham will be that of T. 11. George, who will have about a dozen racing at Awapuni, two at Ellerslie, and one at Waipukurau. H. A. Telford will have six at Awapuni on Saturday. More than 25 horses from Trentham will bo taking part in racing at Christmas and New Year. Bcatilivre is in great fettle, and there is no sign of any shin soreness. Ho worked the reverse way, and ran half a mile to-day in 525. He will leave lor Auckland on Thursday. After contesting tho Manawatu Cup on Saturday, Peerless will be a starter in the Great Northern Derby. The only member of George's team for Hawke's Bay will be Lady Baron, who is in at Waipukurau on Boxing Day. Royal Star 11. worked well in finishing to-day in front of- Debliam over five furlongs run in 1.5, the last half taking 525. Accomplice and Sigurd kept together over six furlongs, but tho pace was not on. Accomplice has never before been in moro solid condition. Sunee and Good Sun ran half a milo in 53 2-ss, the former doing the better. Chat, Ruling Lady and Bed Sand completed a round of pace work by running the last half-mile in 575. After running the first half-mile in 53 3-ss, Namara completed six furlongs in 1.22. Sang Bleu broke away and ran half n mile in 565. Swift Sand followed in 55 2-ss. Majority was going comfortably alongside To Morchu at the end of five furlongs run in 1.8 1-5. Tho going did not worry- Majority. He is in capital order for holiday racing. Lexden was sent once round, sprinting up tho straight. He has freshened since racing at Ellerslio. Booklaw made good time for a hurdler when he ran six furlongs in 1.22 2-5. Clessamor covered half a mile in 54 2-ss, moving in free style. Guiding Light, who is the first of the visiting horses to put in an appearance. was restricted to pace work on tho inside grass. » WAR ADMIRAL AS SIRE War Admiral, tho best horso sired by Man o' War, is to join his sire at the Faraway Stud next spring, says an American exchange. His book is already full at 1500 dollars, with 10 per cent additional to ensure a live foal. In his first season ho is being limited to 15 mares.
