ELLERSLIE TRAINING [HIGH CASTE AND KONNETA TWO-YEAR-OLDS IMPRESSIVE PADISHAH AND MAZIR PLEASE A brilliant sevon-furloiig gallop by Stretto, a fast five furlongs by High Casto and Ivonueta, and u sound mile and a-quarter by the Cup candidates Padishah and Mazir, wore features of yesterday morning's exercises at Ellerslie. Others who pleased wex - o Defaulter, Marie's Acre, Tooley Street and Coronation. The course proper, with the poles out 45ft., was open for galloping, and although the weather was boisterous, the going was excellent. Latest arrivals include The Buzzer, Disdain, Quadroon, Old Bill, Smoko Screen, Scandal, Wotan, Homily, Submission and Entail, Chelandry (Treinain) beat First Gold Money (.Gilchrist) by a neck over half a mile, in 52 l-ss, the first furlong taking 1- 4-os. It was Chelandry's best showing to date. Knight of Australia (Messervy) completed the last seven furlongs of an easy round in 1.42 1-5, the last three furlongs in 435. Ho is a lazy worker, but he is, very well at present.' Good Passage (Ellis) strode over six furlongs coniiortably in 1.23 3-5, the last three taking 41s. His stable-mate, Trench Fight (Humphries) was under a good hold to run 1.23 4-5. Trench Fight looks in great order and is to contest the Christinas Handicap next Monday. After running the first furlong in 13s, Aero King (Hearn) completed half a mile in 53 l-ss. Bonnybelle (Messervy) recorded 535. Paper Slipper (Humphries) ran five furlongs in 1.7 3-5, after taking 25 3-5s for the first two. He moved freely and looked as if he could have done a good deal better. Erination (Tremaiu) was a length in front of Palmint (Gilchrist) at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.21 3-5, the first two being run in 28s. Jonathan (Messervy) traversed a round in 2.12, the last seven furlongs occupying 1.35 4-5. and the half-mile, 63 3-os. He did his work well and should be in good heart for his engagements on the later days at Ellerslie. Gay Son (Wiggins) covered seven furlongs in 1.35 1-5, the last halfmile occupying 54 1-os. He finished attractively and looks fit after recent racing. - The Cup candidates Padishah (Ellis) and Mazir (Humphries) took 2.15 1-5 for their milo and a-quarter. They ran the round in 2.5 1-5, the last seven furlongs in 1.32 1-5 and the half-mile in 54 3-ss. They were being kept up to their work and Padishah appeared to be doing slightly the better. The Auckland Cup top-weight has worked attractively since his arrival and has gained many friends. KELLY HITS OUT FREELY PROBABLE STARTER IN THE CUP Kelly (Gilchrist) covered a mile in 1.45 2-5, the last seven furlongs in 1.31 4-5, and the half in 53 2-ss. He hit out. freely and there is now every likelihood of his contesting the Cup. Thurnavaals (Messervy) proved too good for Innovation (Bruce) over half a mile in "52 4-ss, the first furlong being run in 12 l-ss. Respectful (Tremain) finished in. front (Wiggins) over five furlongs in 1.4 1-5. Respectful displayed plenty of dash. ._ Defaulter (Ellis) and Dictate (Humphries) were associated over six furlongs. run in 1.20, the last three taking 40 l-ss. The three-year-old impressed by the easy manner in which he was going alongside his companion. 'Stretto (Wiggins) cleared out from Philcourt (Gilchrist) and beat h"n by eix lengths to record 1.30 4-5 for seven furlongs. The first half-mile was run in 49 4-ss, and considering she was being eased at the_ end it was a brilliant effort. Stretto appears to be as good as ever, but Philcourt disappointed. . Electric Flash (Stokes) was stopping at the end of a seven-funong task, which took 1.40 4-5. Willie. Win (.Ellis) was under restraint throughout seven furlongs to record 1.37 2-5, the last half : mile taking 575. He moved attractively and was keen to go faster. La Vie' (Gilchrist) was slightly in front of Marie's Acre (Messervy) at the end of half a mile in 50 4-ss, the first furlong being run in 12s. It was the best over the distance and Mane s Acre was impressive, as he was under a good hold. The race, at Te Rapa last week has sharpened him up. . Hackenschmidt (Hearn) was doing bettor than Illimam (Nicolson). at the conclusion of seven furlongs in . 1-5, the first half-mile occupying 50 Abb (Wiggins) was trave,^g comfortably, throughout six furlongs in 1.23 3-5. lie has been working freely and should race well on the Taranaki C 1 Konneta (Gilchrist) was. a neck in front of High Caste (Wiggins) at the end of a smart fuft' furlongs run in 1.3 1-5. Miss Appellant (Messervy) was always well clear of Rajanya (Wiggins) in * running seven furlongs in tno last six taking 1.20 2-5. Miss Appellant is shaping like an early winner.
