SEARCH OF RUGBY FOOTBALL An interesting book "In Search of Bugby Football," which should appeal to all football-minded people, has been written by J. M. Kilburn, author of "In Search of Cricket." It deals with Rugby played in various parts of England, International matches, University competition and ordinary Saturday afternoon play as it appears to the critical mind of tho writer. Of particular interest to New Zealanders are chapters on portions of the All Blacks' tour of England in 1933 and 1936. In one place he says that the New Zealanders settled beyond all argument any doubts there might have been about their class and capabilities. This reference was made concerning the match at Murrayfield between Scotland and the All Blacks, which tho latter won by 18 points to eight. He also describes the game at Twickenham when England defeated New Zealand for tho first time on British soil. Kilburn gives interesting comparisons with Rugby of other days, and explains points on the technicalities of tho game. Ho has also catered for tho spectator, and in the chapter "A. Word in Season" he details* the art pf being a good spectator. He also speaks of the responsibility that rests upon the referees of important maches. There are twelve pages of well-selected photographs.
