They found tho black sedge dry fly the most successful. Mr. Dawson, of Tanganyika, secured his limit at the same spot in one day s fishing. He found the matuku and tamati flies the best lure. His average was Mlb., the best fisJl wei « llinK 61b.

Russell, of Hastings, wetfLy fishing at the Huka pool, just above the falls, in one hour landed four nsn. The condition of these was good and. they gave great spurt. _ The weather at present is ideal tor fishing.
KOTORUA CONDITIONS SMALLER CATCHES RECORDED [by telegraph—own correspondent] ROTORUA. Tuesday With the weather still very changeable and westerly winds predominating, trout fishing conditions have been very unsatisfactory lor some weeks and on the whole catches are probably smaller this season than tor some years, in suite of an abundance of fish. The colder snap experienced during the past two weeks effectively disposed of the unusual abundance or green beetle, which inade its appearance soon after the opening of the season, but it also scut the fish out into the deep' water, with the resultthat very few of the wading areas have been producing good sport. Fly fishermen operating from boats Haiuurana and Awahou in Lake Rotorua have, however, done reasonably well, while a few fish have been taken during temporary periods of "tore suitable weather at the Ohau Channel and also in Lake Rotonia, appears to be fishing better than for some years With 3- return to farmer weather the trout should be attracted closer in to the shallows, and J f these conditions prevail during the Holidays good sport should; be enjoyed by anglers in most parts of the district. ,
