CHRISTMAS PARTY
ST. GEORGE SOCIETY FANCY DRESS DANCE MANY ORIGINAL COSTUMES Humorous and original costumes and a variety of national dresses were worn bv members and guests of the Royal Society of St. Georgo when they attended a Christmas party held by the society last night in the Catholic Women's League rooms. Excellently attended by- both members and visitors, tho party featured a truly festive atmosphere, to which those in fancy dress contributed in large measure. The grand march revealed ajl the costumes to advantage, and tho two judges, Mrs. J. W. Sharman and Miss Edith Sutherland, each of whom received a bouquet, were presented with a difficult task. They awarded the prizes as follows: —Best dressed lady, Mrs. B. M. Forbes, as Queen Elizabeth; best dressed man, Mr. D. Revelly as Sir Walter Raleigh; most original couple, Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Gifford, as Mr. and Mrs. Gamp; most original costume, Mr. W. K. Ttigby, as n scarecrow. Musical Programme The guests were welcomed on arrival by the president, Mr. P. Heath Preest, who was dressed as a university don, «nd -Mrs. Heath Preest, who reprcfccntcd an early Victorian lady. The honorary secretary, Mr. N. Spenry, who has rendered valuable service to the society for a long period, and Mrs. Spearv were presented by Mr. Heath Preest, oil behalf of the members, with a silver-plated combined casserole and fruit dish. -A brief programme was presented and comprised songs by Miss Lynn Jones and Mr. 0. Mason, a minuet by pupils of Madame Speight, and a musical number by three junior members, Miss Jacqueline Heath Preest (vocal), Miss Juno Stormont (piano accordcon) and Miss Jovco Stormont (piano).
