MAINLY FAIR TO FINE moderate temperatures The weather report and forecast for New Zealand issued by the Government meteorologist last evening were as follows: —Slight westerly depressions continue to cross the Dominion, affecting chiefly the western and southern portions of the South Island, but pressure is gradually rising under the influence of an anti-cyclone, centred over Victoria and moving eastward. The forecast is for north-westerly winds predominating in Cook Strait and on parts / of the east coast, but otherwise west/ to south-west winds. Seas rather to rough about Cook Strait and rather rough at times south of Kawhia, otherwise slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: West to -south-west winds, moderate mainly, but strong in places; seas for the most part moderate, but with some rough patches.
