PRESERVING NATIVE BUSH

Sir, —I noticed in the columns of your paper recently that a man was sentenced to two days' hard labour for taking young plants from a city park and in another issue, that a carrier was fined only £2 10s for taking systematically over a long period hundreds of pungas from all over the country and selling them. To my mind, the latter deserved a heavy punishment. A punga takes years to grow and is much more valuable than a young plant from a nursery. Citoyen.
