ACTIVITIES OF MONTH ROOM OPENED AT ORAKEI RECORD NUMBER OF CASES TJIO monthly meeting of tho committee* of the Plunkot Society was held at headquarters yesterday morning. The president, Mrs. J. C. Allan, presided. The report of tho charge nurse, Miss C'hnpman, showed that the district nurses had had a particularly busy month. A record number of 2-11 new baby cases had been seen for tho first time, 1178 visits had been paid to homes and 8191 mothers and babies had visited tho various offices. During tho month a new room had been opened at Orakei. Tho numbel's that had already visited this office were evidence of the need of such an office in tho district. In the pre-natal section 51 expectant mothers had been seen for the first time, 223 return visits had been paid to tho department, and 226 mothers were under supervision. Miss S. Lusk read tho report of the Truby King Ivaritauo Hospital. Eight mothers and 14 babies had been admitted during tho month, and tho work had been well maintained. Twonty-thrco Karitane nurses wero in training. Tho following donations for the hospital funds, wero acknowledged: —To Kuiti, £5 ss; Thames, £5; Ngaruawahin, £3 3s. A donation of £3 3s to the funds of the society was received from tho Epsom Girls' Grammar School Old Girls' Association. As a result of tho children's Christmas party, which, through the courtesy of the Auckland Pacing Club, was held recently at the Ellerslio racecourse. tho sum of approximately £lßl was added to tho funds. As the committeo will not be meeting again until February authority was given tho executive and the Truby King Karitane Hospital house committeo to deal with the tenders for the additions to bo made to tho hospital. There was a discussion as to whether the badge used on Plunkct Day should be changed. It was unanimously decided to make no alteration. It is the intention of tho Dominion council to launch an appeal for a national memorial to the late Sir Truby King. The mattor will come up again for discussion at the February meeting. At the conclusion of the business of the meeting Miss Dorothy Wood attended to meet tho members of the committee. The opportunity was taken to thank her for tho cheque of £2OB which she handed to the society as the result of her Armistice Evo concert.
