Mrs. Mervyn Wells, of Cambridge, has returned after spending a few days in Raglan. Mrs. Eric Nolan, of Papatoetoe,' returned yesterday from a fortnight's holiday at Botorua. Miss Joan Hellaby, of Remuera .Road, has returned from a visit to Paihia, Bay of Islands. Miss Norma McCullough, of Remuera Road, returned on Tuesday from a visit to Wellington. Mrs. A. Clark, of Sylvan Avenue, Mount Eden, has returned from a six weeks' holiday at Sydney. Miss Elfie Reed, of Paihia, Bay of Islands, is staying with Mrs. F. Hellaby, of Remuera Road. Mrs. Athol Williams, of Te Ante Station, Hawke's Bay, returned this week from a visit to England. Mrs. Paul Cropper, Vincent Avenue, Remuera, has left to spend the holidays at Paihia, Bay of Islands. . Misses B. and P. Mrs. Trevor Brett, of Canterbury Place, Parnell, has returned from a visit to Kawau, where she was the guest of Mrs. Silk. Mrs. N. Coverdale, of R?otorua, arrived in Auckland yesterday, and is staying with her son, Mr. H. Coverdale, of O'Rorke Street. Mrs. A. G. N. Wyatt, of Coombes Road. Remuera, and her sister-in-law, Mrs. M. Chantry, have returned from a fishing holiday at Wairakei. Miss Penelope blundell, of Wellington, who arrived in Auckland this week after a visit to Great Britain and Canada, has returned south. Mrs. J. C. Lawford, of Selwyn Avenue, Mission Bay, left yesterday with her children to spend a holiday at her cottage in Rotorua. Mrs. L. P. Leary, of Seaview Road, Remuera, who is spending some time at her cottage at Lake Rotoiti, is paying a short visit to Auckland. Mrs, G. M. Firth has returned to Hamilton after spending a holiday in Auckland* where she stayed with her Mrs. S. Thorne George, of Remuera Road. Miss Gwen Jordan, daughter of the High Commissioner for New Zealand, has passed the matriculation examination of London University, wrote our London correspondent on November 21. Mrs. P. F. Blundell, of Wellington, and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Maurice Blundell, have returned after a short visit to Auckland, where theyj came to meet Miss Penelope Blundell' on her return from abroad. The final meeting for this year of the British Israel Association was held on Tuesday afternoon. An address was given by Mrs. K. Scott, and Miss Mina Caldow delighted the meeting with her singing. Following a short address by the president, Mr. R. Newcomb, afternoon tea was served. At a morning tea party, arranged by the executive committee of the Epsom branch of the Community Sunshine Association, a presentation was made to the president of the branch. Mrs. A. ■G. Gladding, by the vicepresident, Mrs. N. A. Kyle, on behalf of the committee. The secretary of the association, Mrs. B. J. McKendrick. was present, and was presented with a floral spray. Mrs. Gladding's daughter, Miss Sheila Baker, also received a spray. - Four hundred of her pictures, all painted since the war, have"been presented by Mrs. Alec Tweedie to various Governments, societies and hospitals, wrote our London correspondent on November 21. She has already received letters of thanks from the Prime Ministers of Australia and New Zealand. The pictures, many of which were painted" in these Dominions, will hang in thje respective Government Houses. Other pictures will be hung in the buildings of the Royal Empire Society, the Navy League, the Royal Central Asian Society, the Chinese Club, the Japan Society, and numerous hospitals and charitable organisations.
