CHANGEABLE WITH RAltf FALLS IN MOST DISTRICTS The weather report and forecast for New Zealand issued by the Government meteorologist last evening were as follows : —A series of rather shallow depressions ist crossing the Dominion while an anti-cyclone of moderate in! tensity is moving from the west on to south-eastern Australia. The forecast is for south-westerly winds in parts of western and southern districts, otherwise west to north-west predominating, mainly light to moderate, but strong about Cook Strait. Later a change to freshening south-westerlies advancing from the south. Seas rough in the Cook Strait area, otherwise slight to moderate,' but later rising in the far south. Eastern Tasman Sea: Variable and at times strong winds with west to southwest predominating; seas slight to moderate, but later rising in the central and southern portions. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland.—Dull weather yesterday morning was followed by fine conditions in the afternoon. The wind was light to moderate from the. south-west. The weather last night was cloudy, with a light north-west wind. The maximum temperature was 74 degrees and the minimum 60 degrees. Barometric pressure roso steadily. Barometer, midnight, rising ». 29.85 in Midnight, Tuesday .. .. 20.55 in." Wellington.—The weather was cloudy and at times threatening in the afternoon, but otherwise fine and mild, with a moderate wind from the north-west. The maximum temperature was 66 degrees. At 3.30 p.m. the barometer read 20.551 in. Christchurch.—To-day was cloudy and warm until late afternoon, when the sky cleared. A light easterly wind in the morning changed to a 'strong north-easterly in the middle of the day. The maximum temperature was 76 degrees. The barometer at 5 p.m. registered 29.37 in. Dunedin.—The sky was overcast and the weather was calm. Rain fell in the afternoon, one particularly heavy shower being experienced. Tlie baroimjter fell steadily to 29.40 m.
