ACTION CRITICISED

HAMILTON SPORTS GROUNDS QUESTION OF CONTROL [ntoji ouu own cohukspondent] HAMILTON, Wednesday The action of the Mayor of Hamilton, Mr. H. D. Caro, in writing to tho Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, regarding the control of sports grounds in Hamilton, was criticised at a mating of the Hamilton Domain Board last night. Tho letter to the Minister, a copy of which was received by the board, referred to I the opinion of the Hamilton Borough Council that the present system of control was undemocratic and that, if tho council had control of tho grounds, a definite saving in the annual coSts could bo achieved. Mr. W. H. Paid, chairman of tho board, said Mr. Caro had promised that the borough engineer would give Mr. F. A. Swarhrick figures and Crftimates of costs relative to sports ground improvements, so that Sir. Swarbrick could make a report on tho matter These figures, he said, wore not made available until last night, although they were promised in August. 3lr. Caro, who is a member of tho board, said the council had offered tho engineer's services but the board did not push the matter as much as it should have done. The work was being done by the engineer in his spare time, and not in the council's time. "The letter," said Mr. Caro, "was sent to tho Minister with tho idea of speeding up tho matter."
