NEW NAZI MEASURES DRASTIC RESTRICTIONS POPE PREPARING REPLY LONDON, Doc. 13 Although the latest Nazi measures against the Roman Catholic Church have not yet been published, the gist of them is known here, savs the Vatican City correspondent of" the Exchange Telegraph Company. It is reported that they provide:— (1) That the relations between the Church and - State shall no longer be governed by the Concordat, but by. the laws of the Reich, (2) That processions and pilgrimages will bo forbidden. (3) That sermons based on communications between the Pope and bishops must be submitted to the Reich authorities in advance. ( n That a religious orde.. any member of which is convicted of iin - moralitx will be dissolved, and its property confiscated. Other decrees, it is understood, severely handicap religious orders and forbid priests to baptise Jews. The Pope is preparing a reply to the decrees, which at present are before legal authorities.
