APPARATUS FOR HOSPITAL" The first electrical device for the treatment of patients was installed in. the Auckland Hospital half a century ago. The following is an extract from the Nkw Zealand Heeald of December 14, 1888: "In these depressed times it is pleasant to hear of new developments or industry in our midst. The Auckland District Hospital has hitherto been, without an efficient galvanic apparatus for the application or a current in cases where the recovery of a patient nngntr be accelerated by such meaus. la® developments of curative electricity have been very great during the lasc few years and most of the Engustt hospitals are now provided with complete sets of apparatus for use m niany diseases and surgical operations, oo it was decided to procure an_efbcienl» battery for the Auckland Hospital. The batteries and fittings, a' so cabinet, have "'been manufactured m Auckland. The battery runs on wheel and can be conveyed to the bedsid of a patient in any ward of the hospital without trouble."
