MOUNT EDEN EVENTS CARNIVAL LAST EVENING CONTESTS WELL SUPPORTED Keen competition was witnessed at the Mount Eden Amateur Swimming Club's carnival in the Mount Eden Baths last night. On account of steady rain, the attendance was small, there being about 200 spectators, but the various events were well supported by swimmers. The carnival was declared open by the Mayor of Mount Kden, Mr. R. J. Mills, who wished the club a successful season. The club president, Mr. T. McNab, welcomed the representatives of tlic Eastern Suburbs Club, who competed with the junior members of the Mount Eden Club in the annual competition for the Goodwill Cup, presented by Sir Ernest Davis. This was won easily by Mount Kden, which gained five firsts to its opponent's two. The club's appreciation of the services rendered by Mrs. A. S'. Priestley was expressed by the presentation of a clock. The presentation was made by Mr. McNab, on behalf of the members. The Mount Eden Club was unopposed for the Residents' Cup, the trophy for the 333 1-3 yards inter-club relay championship. The wiuner of the 220 yards open handicap was G. Veitch, and the 50 yards event was won by V. Capper in 27 l-ss.
