INCIDENT AT PARTY

CHARGE DISMISSED " The woman was the cause of the trouble," stated Detective-Sergeant McHugh in the Police Court yesterday when James George Hopwood, ship's fireman, aged 23, was charged with assaulting Phyllis Judson on December 11. Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., presided. Mr. McHugh said the complaint was made as a result of incidents at a party in a Hobson Street room. Complainant tried to break up the party and - after accused had. tried to! send her homo she threatened to hit two other women with a bottle. Accused slapped her face and she fell down. Bhe was taken to hospital and tho taxi faro and fees came to 265. Accused had not been .in trouble before and was a decent type of man. The magistrate dismissed the case and ordered ■ the payment of 2Gs by accused. ' . t '
