ITALIAN NAZI LINE TAKEN I HARSH RESTRICTIONS EXCLUSION FROM CLUBS By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received December 11, 5.5 p.m.) Times Cablo « LONDON, Dec. 10 The degradation of Jews in Italy is being rapidly carried out on the Nazi pattern, says the Rome correspondent of the Times. Their elimination from Government employment and from many other spheres of life iis progressing. Recent laws "for the defence of the race" provided for the exclusion of Jews from all learned societies. Under pressure from the Fascist Party's headquarters, Jews are now being excluded from most social and sporting clubs. Notices with the words: "Jews are not desired " are also beginning to appear outside cafes, restaurants and other public resorts. The management of the famous Scala jOpera House has cancelled Jews' season tickets with compensation. Two of Italy's best-known clubs are excluding •Jews.

REFUGEE PROBLEM PLANS FOR SOLUTION SANCTUARY IN RHODESIA NAZIS . AND JEWS' ASSETS (Received December 11, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 10 New proposals for solving the refugee problem, submitted to the Government, are now under Departmental consideration, says the Daily Telegraph. They •envisage'an .offer by Britain to create a new Jewish national home in northeastern Rhodesia, which is most suitable for European settlement and large enough to permit of the development ■of a Jewish national State. The territory could accommodate all potential Jewish settlers from all parts of the world. ' .> •" The Telegraph adds that the area concerned is larger than England. An •unemployment problem would, not arise because of the extensive development necessary. A -message from Berlin states that negotiations- between Nazis and Jews, witlt a view to permitting emigrants to realise flome of their assets, are progressing. The plan provides for giving refugees coupons authorising them to sell German goods of a Btated value in. foreign countries, thus recovering park of the money they left in Germany, also increasing German exports. SALVATION ARMY'S HELP (Received December 11, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. Dec. 10 A message from the Pope was read at the Mansion House meeting in supportofEarl Baldwin's appeal for a fund for Jews, at which all the political parties in England, business circles and Churches were represented. * The message stated: " The Pope's thoughts And feelings are correctly inx terpreted by declaring that he looks .with humane Christian approval on every effort to show charity and give effective assistance to innocent victims in these sad times of distress." Lord de Rothschild said he believed 7000 Jews had committed suicide in jOstmark (Austria) since March. He Announced that the Salvation Army in Britain was receiving 1000 refugees. The Czech National Bank has promised £500,000 for the settlement of 1000 Czech Jewish families in Palestine, says a message from Prague.

CHILDREN FROM VIENNA LARGE PARTY FOR ENGLAND (Received December 11, 7.30 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY, Dec. 10 Five hundred and twenty Jewish refugee children from Vienna will arrive at Harwich from Hook of Holland early to-morrow morning. A special train will convoy tho children to Lowestoft.
