FUND FOR UNIFORMS market at te aroha Organised to assist tho Municipal* B.aiuf uniform fund, the Christmas market held in the Catholic Hall ,at Te Aroha was an outstanding success. In opening the fair, the Mayor, Mr. R. Coulter, congratulated those responsible on the wonderful display of goods. Recalling the early struggles of the band, ho said strenuous efforts had been made to equip the bandsmen with instruments and uniforms, ihe ladies committee had helped, and it was directly duo to them that liabilities had been wiped off. In tho present instance, when more funds were needed, it was the ladies again who proffered their services. They were showing a civic interest by assisting in tho band s re-oquipment. Tho babv show was tho main attraction during the afternoon, when about 70 infants, ranging from a few months to two years, were paraded before the judge. Sister Muslin, matron ot the Pacroa Hospital, who was assisted by Mrs. Ripley. Tho winners woro as under: —One month to six months: Girl, Baby Johnson, 1; hoy, Baby Kingslcy-Smith, 1. Six months to 1~ months: Girl, Baby Hunger, 1; boy, Baby llenouf, 1. One year to ono and a-half vears: Girl, Baby Rogers, 1; boy, Baby Empson, 1. One and a-half years to two years: Girl, Baby Finnigan, 1; boy, Baby Griffiths, 1.
