Mrs. Vivian Riddiford, of Lower Hutt. Wellington, who has been visiting England for eight months, returned to Auckland last evening by the Aorangi. She will stay with her daughter, Mrs. Peter Savage, of St. Heliers Bay, for a" few days before returning south.

A party was given recently for the Auckland' branch of the Loyal Temperance Legion by Mrs. Holmes at her home, Arnev 'Road, Remuera. Mrs. Holmes and Mrs. Hugh Kasper gave addresses, and the musical programme was provided by the children. Each child received a gift of a book.

Lady Cheetham, of Montpellier Square, London, arrived at Auckland vesterdav by the Aorangi. She will be the guest of "Their Excellencies Viscount anjl Viscountess Galway, at. Government House, Auckland, and will remain in the Dominion for two months, after which she will complete her world tour via Sydney, Darwin and Java.

Mrs. C. R. T. Congreve, of Ottacamund. Nilgiri, South India, with her husband and little daughter, Julia, will arrive in Auckland this morning by the Mariposa from Australia on a visit to Mrs. Congreve's parents, Dr. and Mrs. v J- Somerville, Victoria Avenue. Miss Barbara Somerville, who has been staying with her sister, is also travelling by the Mariposa on her return to New Zealand.

The breaking-up party of the Y.W.C.A. Women's Progressive Club took place recently. The president, Mrs. R. Murdoch, presided, and a bright programme of games, competitions, community singing, and solos by. Miss Brooks helped to pass an enjoyable evening. Competition winners were Mrs. H. Webster and Miss Brown. The accompanist was Miss Brown, and supper was served by the committee.
