PRICE OF BUTTER
Sir, —W. P. Eenah's letter calls for some comment. He says: "Mr. Blood, worth errs in failing to realise that in other countries costs have risen as a result of genuine prosperity, while in New Zealand costs are artificial." r< Kenah admits that costs in New Zeal land are artificial, and that, I consider, is the chief trouble. The capitalists are taking every opportunity that comes their way to rai.se prices. The price of coal has jumped up five or six times during the past four years also the price of timber, clothing and sundry other items. We know that the 40-hour week must result iii some price increases, but surely not to the extent that we have at present. Quite a number of workers as well as myself firmly believe that this price juggling is a deliberate attempt to jeopardise { the Labour Government's policy, particularly the 40-hour week, and . 1 think it is hijxli time? for the Government to wake up to the fact go into the relationship of production' distribution and prices, and plit raa£ ters right. ' E. Holmm.
