Mrs. L. P. Leary, of Seaview Road, Remuera, has left to stay at her house at Roto-iti. Miss Denise Wootton, of Remuera Road, is spending a cruising holiday round the New Zealand coast. Miss Margaret Ewen, of Remuera Road, is spending a holiday on a cruise round the coast of New Zealand. Mrs. A. W. T. Hvde, of Katikati, Bay of Plenty, is at present visiting Auckland, and is at the Station Hotel. Mrs. T. A. H. Oliphant, of Woodley Avenue, Remuera, is spending a few days at her house at Campbell's Bay. Mrs. G. W. Armstrong (Gisborne), Mrs. A. Ridd (New Plymouth) and Mrs. E. Ryan (Hamilton), are at the Central Hotel. Mrs. C. R. Crispe, of Manurewa, intends leaving by the on December 16 to visit relatives in England. Miss Noel Horrocks, of Whakatane, is visiting Auckland and is staying with J Irs. 1). L. Johnston, St. Stephen's Avenue, Purnell.
Mrs. H. P. Richmond, of Epsom, accompanied by Mr. Richmond, will leave by the Aorangi on Monday for Sydney.'From there Mr. and Mrs. Richmond will connect with the Nieuw Holland for Bali and will also visit Singapore and Hongkong. They expect to be away about three months. About 53 ladies attended an afternoon given by Mrs. G. H. Worker, of Wellsford, at her home in aid of funds of the local branch of the Plunket Society. As a result of the effort the society will benefit by about £5. Mrs. Worker was assisted by Miss D. Curel. Items were given by Mrs. Mangan and Miss Busbridge. Advice has been received that Miss Shirley Satchell, of Northcote, has secured first place in the recent Government shorthand typists' examinations, both in the junior and senior sections. Miss Satchell is a member of the staff in the town clerk's office and is a night pupil at tlie Seddon Momorial Technical College.
