TITIRANGI BUILDING READY FOR NEXT YEAR WIDE VIEW FROM SITE — ; — »" Standing on a protected sunny site coinnuiuding a splendid view of tho country toward Auckland, the new Titirangi Primary School, the greater part of which is now almost completed, will bo ready for use at tho beginning of the next school year. The school was originally to have boon of two rooms, but when it-was in the course of construction the school committee brought forward particulars indicating that when tho school was built the attendance would be sufficient to warrant a third classroom and a third teacher. Thero are only two teachers at the present school, which will be replaced by the new structure. Of the open-air typo, tho school is similar to that at Orakei, the northern side of each room consisting of folding doors opening on to a verandah.' There will bo accommodation for about 100 children and, in accordance with the new regulations, the classrooms are built to allow 20 square feet of space for each child. Each classroom is 26ft. by 24ft., and there is.a staff room about 14ft. by 10ft. in size and a cloakroom for tho children. The plans allow of the school being'extended when necessary by tho addition of rooms at. the eastern end. _ _ _ i The site, which is off Atkinson Road a little before the commencement of the scenic drive, slopes down from the road. The ground on which the school stands has been levelled, together with an assembly area in front. The school will be wel>protected, but will receive all tho available sunlight.
