OUR DAILY BREAD

Sir, —Seeing a loaf of bread topple to the pavement from an overloaded basket, to be picked up and placed with the others, inspired me to register this protest. I'his loaf, with its acquired germs gathered from tho footpath, will by now have been sold to an unsuspecting customer. As one of the latter class, 1 desire to express the opinion that all bread should be wrapped where it is made. My owu bread is delivered to mv door; it is handled by the same hands which hold the steering wheel, open and shut doors, gates, etc. Probably the pavement can add little to it. Wellington has one factory which seals all loaves in a special waxed paper, ensuring cleanliness and freshness. In-the United States of America 1 understand a high percentage of bread is wrapped in cellophane. I did not mention that the wrapped Wellington bread costs the consumer no more than unwrapped. Rumour has it that our bread is shortly to be increased in price. Could this new price also include wrapping, please? Fastidious.
