BRITISH SHIP SINKS
DAMAGE BY BOMBERS f Independent Cable Service BARCELONA, Dec. 0 The British steamer Stan well, which was hit during a bombing raid by Nationalist airmen on the port yesterday, has now settled down. It is believed that the cargo can be salvaged. The Stanwell has had a comparatively short career in the Spanish trade. She visited Auckland last year as the Brocklebank Line steamer Stockwell and was sold some months ago to J. A. Billmeir and Company, which has a fleet of ships engaged in carrying cargoes in the war zone. The Stanwell, of 5757 tons gross, was built at Sunderland in 1914.
